It feels good to finally be able to reach out to all of you with some positive news and changes. You have been missed by myself and the entire team!
COVID-19 has brought about a lot of challenges and changes for us all. Most of you know me as the face of Anne Maaden, but probably not aware that I was not an owner. The long-term goal was that I would purchase Anne Maaden. That being said, on May 20th, 2020, the owner of Anne Maaden made the decision to file bankruptcy on the corporation. This was done without consulting me and came as a complete shock to both the staff as well as myself.
I had to take some quiet time to reflect on my life path and purpose. To me, the spa was so much more than just providing treatments; it was the joy of helping people feel better about themselves each and every day. We have always considered ourselves honoured to be the first to hear about a new pregnancy, a new love interest and even sometimes a hardship like a loss of a loved one or a divorce.
The space on Gordon Street (even before the beautiful renovation) is my second home. I consider the team of women I work with everyday to be extended family. Our customers have become dear friends. The answer was clear: I had to re-open and give myself the chance to start new while continuing a journey I have truly valued and enjoyed over the past 16 years.
As you can see, we will have a new name and brand going forward. I chose the butterfly as my new logo for its symbolism. I think we have all been transformed through this pandemic and hopefully we can all think of some ways we have transformed into something more beautiful.
The team and I are taking a couple more weeks to organize ourselves and hopefully hear that more restrictions have been lifted. As some of you may know, we are only permitted to treat the body from the neck down. The face accounts for the vast majority of our treatments, so it would be difficult to bring everyone back to work full-time. It is very important to us that we all return as one unified team because we have been through so much and believe that returning to work should be shared and celebrated together.
I have enjoyed the phone calls I have made so far and hearing your voices on the other end. Please feel free to call and leave a message or email us. We will be reaching out the moment we have an official opening date. Please note that the online booking system on the old site is no longer operational. We are currently in the process of selecting a new software system which will be much easier for clients to schedule online appointments.
I will be sending out another newsletter in the next couple of weeks to update you on dates when Maura will be available as well as our new protocols. Healthy and Safety, sterilization and cleanliness have always been a top priority for us and will continue to be as we navigate this new normal.
